How it works
Calculate ellipsoid volume using three semiaxes. Enter half-dimensions, not full diameters.
Inputs and units
| Input | Example value | What to enter |
|---|---|---|
| Semiaxis a | 5 | Enter a numeric value. Half the full dimension in that direction. Must be greater than zero. |
| Semiaxis b | 4 | Enter a numeric value. Half the full dimension in that direction. Must be greater than zero. |
| Semiaxis c | 3 | Enter a numeric value. Half the full dimension in that direction. Must be greater than zero. |

Reading the result
Enter lengths in the same unit. Area uses the square of that unit and volume its cube. Height is perpendicular to the base; use a sloping side only when the input explicitly asks for it.
Questions and answers
Can I use the example values for my own calculation?
The example values illustrate the calculation. Replace every input with your own information, especially dates, rates and the selected operation.
How do full dimensions become semiaxes?
Divide each full diameter by two before entering it. For full dimensions 10, 8 and 6, enter 5, 4 and 3. Entering all three full dimensions as semiaxes makes the volume eight times too large.
Why are some results rounded?
Results display up to 8 decimal places. Calculations use the unrounded values; very small values use scientific notation. JavaScript floating-point arithmetic can introduce tiny rounding differences.
Are my inputs sent to a server?
The calculator processes inputs in your browser. Its code does not send your values to a server.
