How it works
Find Q1, median, Q3 and interquartile range using inclusive linear interpolation. Other software may use a different quartile convention.
Inputs and units
| Input | Example value | What to enter |
|---|---|---|
| Numbers | 2 4 4 4 5 5 7 9 | Separate numbers with spaces or semicolons; use a decimal point. |

Reading the result
Keep the list to one kind of measurement. Outliers can affect the mean; sample and population formulas use different denominators. The tool applies its stated method and does not establish the quality of your data.
Questions and answers
Can I use the example values for my own calculation?
The example values illustrate the calculation. Replace every input with your own information, especially dates, rates and the selected operation.
Which quartile convention is used?
Sort the list and use h=(n−1)q for q=0.25, 0.5 and 0.75. Interpolate between neighbouring positions counted from zero. The interquartile range is Q3−Q1. This inclusive R7 convention can differ from methods that split a list into separate halves.
Why are some results rounded?
Results display up to 8 decimal places. Calculations use the unrounded values; very small values use scientific notation. JavaScript floating-point arithmetic can introduce tiny rounding differences.
Are my inputs sent to a server?
The calculator processes inputs in your browser. Its code does not send your values to a server.
